So many of the great educators we come across are really pushing to integrate technology and social media into their curriculum. We agree with those educators who believe that the future of information literacy lies in teaching students how to properly navigate through the vast and growing information on the web. It's great to have access to unlimited knowledge, but only useful if you know how to find it. We're always interested to see how educators are solving this problem. So we're following you on Twitter and we'll be sure to check in to see what you're up to. If you want to see some of our own info lit initiatives take a look here: http://www.easybib.com/kb/inde...

Best of Luck,
The EasyBib Team

Re: Sorting out the LearnStream

TY, Dr. Ho. This strategy seems logical. We've subscribed to your RSS feed, and we're following you on Twitter, too, on behalf of http://GETideas.org. The more coverage on the Web, the better, we say; gives people many options to keep up on your interesting work.

Re: A new "version" of the course lifestream

test disqus for 1st time

Re: Embracing the Twitter Classroom

testing Facebook Connect-Disqus integration on http://blog.cit499.info

Re: Embracing the Twitter Classroom

testing Twitter-Disqus integration on http://blog.cit499.info

Re: A new "version" of the course lifestream

I have to agree here too. By being able to see the comments it will generate much more discussion on the posts etc. I think that the comments are where we can really learn by collaborating on ideas and thoughts. This is a good idea!

Re: We're being "noticed"

It's only a matter of time before this is nation wide!

Re: CIT 499 now has a mobile site (work-in-progress)

The desktop version of the course page (http://cit499.info) now includes a link module to this "mobile-friendly" counterpart.

Re: Is there "noise" in the course lifestream?

The course lifestream does indeed include the students' individual lifestreams, BUT that depends on them having lifestreams that do NOT include their Tweetstream so that we can "filter" out their tweets that are not relevant to the course, IF necessary. Then, we would use the hashtage #cit499 to include the tweets that ARE relevant. That was the point of the original post that we are now discussing. So, we're "damned if we do and damned if we don't" aren't we?

Re: Is there "noise" in the course lifestream?

The course lifestream includes BOTH updates to @cit499 as well as tweets that contain either the keyword "cit499" or hashtag "#cit499" so I think that we're "covered"

In other words, to get a tweet into the course lifestream, either DM @cit499 (let me know IF it is not following you back) or include #cit499 in your tweet.

Re: Is there "noise" in the course lifestream?

I think the sorting of Twitter feeds by the #cit499 hashtag would be useful to dismiss irrelevant posts. Will you also be sorting feeds based on course participants? Otherwise, I see the hashtag use might lead to spam posts on Twitter. I agree that the impromptu nature of tweets may either lead to them being inappropriate or helping advance this course.

Good luck in it.

Re: Is there "noise" in the course lifestream?

I still think that the solution to this is for everyone to direct message CIT499 through Twitter any time they want to discuss anything relevant to the course. Then simply add this RSS feed http://twitter.com/statuses/us... to the course lifestream. From what I can see this feed currently only contains information that is relevant to the CIT499 course. I personally always direct message CIT499 already when I want to tweet something of relevance to the course. Just a thought.

Re: CIT@IUPUI.edu - Get RSS Feed Suggestions Based on your Existing Subscriptions (via CIT499's feed | Diigo Group)

This service will ONLY work AFTER you have subscribed to a number of RSS feeds on which it can base its recommendations.

Re: CIT@IUPUI.edu - Newsome.Org (via CIT499's feed | Diigo Group)

IF you've never understood WHY you "need" an RSS reader, this posting is FOR YOU!

Re: CIT@IUPUI.edu - CIT499’s feed | Diigo Group Slideshare: The Future...

Yeah, should be Links with Summaries - not exactly straightforward...

Re: CIT@IUPUI.edu - CIT499’s feed | Diigo Group Slideshare: The Future...

I think I'm importing them as text so I'll have to fix that

Re: CIT@IUPUI.edu - CIT499’s feed | Diigo Group Slideshare: The Future...

Tom, the Life stream stuff doesn't look to be importing correctly - there are no links!
